Chamonix's premier luxury hotel is the Relais & Châteaux - Le Hameau Albert 1er, one of only three 5 Star hotels in the valley. France only introduced the 5 Star classification in 2009 so accommodation of this type is a rarity in a ski resort. Located just on the edge of town, this historical hotel was built in 1903 by Joseph Carrier and is now a super-stylish and serene place to stay with exceptional facilities on site including a luxury spa and a two Michelin-starred restaurant.
Even more established is the 4 Star Grand Hôtel des Alpes, built in 1840 and located in the centre of Chamonix. Completely refurbished in 2004, this elegant hotel has maintained its traditional feel and many of the rooms have spectacular views of Mont Blanc and the Brevent mountain range.
Outside Chamonix town the Jeu de Paume in Le Lavancher. The Jeu de Paume has a lovely, tranquil, mountain-lodge feel and is home to one of the best restaurants in the Chamonix valley headed up by Chef Eric de Ganck. With a swimming pool, sauna and wonderful terrace you can relax and enjoy the peace and calm of this luxury hotel.
