Georgetown - population 1, 060, as of 2009 - is a historic skiing town in Clear Creek County, Colorado. The mountainous little town has been a mining center since its foundation in the 1860s; it is surrounded by natural beauty, from Green Lake to Devil's Gate. The area has no shortage of accommodations for travelers, from chain motels to quaint bed and breakfast inns. The city's most famous, historic hotel, Hotel de Paris (hoteldeparismuseum.org), has been preserved as a museum and is a prominent tourist attraction in Georgetown's downtown area.

The locally owned inn's cozy rooms come with wireless Internet; many have kitchenettes and living room spaces. The hotel has its own heated pool, hot tub and picnic area. Georgetown Mountain Inn is within walking distance to Georgetown's downtown area. Neighborhood eateries include The Happy Cooker, Raven Hill Mining Company Restaurant and Quan Zhoa.

Hotel Chateau Chamonix

Hotel Chateau Chamonix (hotelchateauchamonix.com) has a rustic, log-cabin look to its outside, but a sleek, modern look to its interior. The hotel's 10 rooms have all the up-to-date conveniences you could want, from espresso machines to original artwork to steam showers. Some rooms at this tall, two-story hotel even have a private porch and hot tub. Most rooms have views of Clear Creek. Nearby dining spots include Euro Grill, Tavern on the Creek and Mountainbuzz Cafe.

Rose Street Bed & Breakfast

Rose Street Bed & Breakfast (rosestreetbedbreakfast.com) is a quaint, Victorian-era inn owned by the Nisler family. An entrepreneur refashioned the town's abandoned railroad depot - for which he paid $50 - into this inn in 1951. Rooms at the eight-unit Alpine Inn, designed to resemble a Swiss chalet, are modest but come with cable TV and wireless Internet. Other nearby restaurants include Panda City Chinese Restaurant, Red Ram and End of the Line.
